Traditional Kaska territory

Kaska Dena have lived in and cared for these lands since time immemorial. Traditional Kaska territory extends across approximately 240,000 square kilometres of what are now northern British Columbia, southeastern Yukon and the southern Northwest Territories.

Mountains, boreal forests, rivers and lakes connect Kaska communities and generations. Dease River First Nation, based in Good Hope Lake, is part of this wider homeland. The land and waters remain central to Kaska life, culture and identity.
